Michelle and James were married May 4th, 2008 at the Hotel Elliott in Astoria, Oregon. For those of you outside of Oregon, Astoria is where they filmed most of the movie The Goonies, among other films. The hotel is in downtown and is amazing just on it's own. Then I went up to the Presidential suite and fell in love. What a grand space. It is huge with two bathrooms, two bedrooms, a living room, a large kitchen, and the 2nd bedroom up a spiral staircase to the rooftop. Once on the roof, you get a 360 degree view of Astoria, it's hills, the bridge, and the river. It was gorgeous. Plus May 4th might have been one of only a few days in which it was really sunny in Astoria all day long.
We took some couple photos up there then went downstairs to the front for some more photos. The street below is just as beauiful. If we were more inclined, we may have walked the several blocks down to the river for even more location options.
The ceremony was beautiful, with both the bride and groom walking down the aisle together. The music was extremely well done by Effesensen Music and the ceremony was very special with a close friend performing a reading and Barbara Beach officiating.
After the ceremony, their friends and family toasted the couple with champagne and dined on appetizers that looked almost too good to eat!
They then retired to the basement of the hotel to the crabernet room, no it's not a typo, that also held the havana room, the cigar room. What a wonderful space it all was. Bridgewater Bistro
catered the event, and all of the food looked incedibly tasty and like little works of art. I only stayed until the 1st course, but I'm sure the rest of the dinner was just as amazing. Michelle and James were extremely thoughtful and made sure that I took home a special vendor meal. They didn't know that I am a vegetarian, so the meal contained meat, but it smelled and looked soo good, I almost became a meat eater again after 20 years of being a vegetarian. I almost went there! My husband did go there and said it was some of the best food he has ever eaten!
I was only there for 4 hours but I would have loved to have stayed longer. Michelle and James are two creative, attentive, and loving people that are now married and I am soo happy for both of them. Thank you so much for inviting me to be a part of your wonderful day! I'm truly honored!
