March 30, 2008

Casie and Matthew were married at the Shaarie Torah Temple on NW 25th Ave in Portland on another chilly, wet day. The weather did nothing to dampen the spirits of the bridal couple, I was met with laughter in the bride's room as the ladies were getting ready while sharing a few toasts. The guys on the other hand, were busy playing billiards and sharing their own toasts in the rabbi's office. He later joined in the fun dressed in an amazing eggplant purple suit. Very snazzy. The couple and their witnesses gathered around to sign the ketubah, the marriage contract. It is incredibly beautiful and I believe they will have it framed and presented on a wall in their home. The ceremony was a very intimate and joyous affair with the couple surrounded by their close family and friends. The couple were married under a colorful and beautiful chuppah, canopy, and were wrapped in a prayer shawl before Matthew broke the glass and they were pronounced husband and wife. Everyone then left to enjoy a small reception at the Peruvian restaurant Andina on NW Glisan. If anyone is looking for a place for a rehearsal dinner or a smaller reception, I would inquire there. It looked amazing. They had a room upstairs from the restaurant all to themselves. I only stayed a few minutes to try and capture some of the details and to take pictures of them pretending to cut the cake, they cut it for real later that evening. In June, I will see the bridal couple again as they host a celebration party for a larger group of friends and family not at the actual ceremony. It will take place at the World Trade Center in Portland on the skybridge terrace. It's theme is casino night, so I'm looking forward to seeing them again and to photograph the fun and games that happen that night. I'll keep you posted. Congratulations Casie and Matthew and thanks for making me smile all day long!
